Arthritis

Arthritis can have many causes and happen in many different age ranges. We tend to see it as an aging-related issue. I see more and more people struggling with joints and joint health and are often diagnosed with some form of arthritis. "There are more than 100 different types of arthritis and related conditions. People of all ages, genders, and races can and do have arthritis, and it is the leading cause of disability in the United States." The number of adults in the U.S. with doctor-diagnosed arthritis is projected to increase 49 percent to 78.4 million (25.9 percent of all adults). 2019-abtn-final-march-2019.pdf (arthritis.org)

What is happening in the joints when someone has arthritis? It is usually started with pain, after this, we see swelling, and stiffness in the joint. There are many types of arthritis Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, and Juvenile arthritis. We also have people with gout and lupus that struggle with similar issues of arthritis and joint pain and stiffness.

Let's discuss things that are happening in the body that can impact arthritis. Breaking down of the bone and joints can trigger an autoimmune attack on the bones. Some have a build-up of calcium in the joints this can also be considered arthritis. For some people, the body is pushing out alkaline toxins called guanidine which is in the liver and bloodstream and can create joint stiffness. People with kidney issues can have an abundance of uric acid in the joints. When we have an issue with toxicity which can cause joint pain and stiffness. Some people have inherited cartilage weakness, some it is caused due to repeated injury to the joints.

Joint damage due to overuse will be handled differently with supporting ligaments and minerals for the ligaments nourishing the joints. Those with Rheumatoid arthritis tend to have issues with bone breakdown, the bones need to be addressed. There are many things nutritionally and environmentally that can take away from the bones creating a breakdown, which in the end can lead. A high dose of vitamin D without adding calcium in with the vitamin D can rob the bones, sugar, caffeine, even our estrogen balance can impact bone density. Other types of arthritis can be due to toxicity, alkalinity, and uric acid. Toxicity can be due to the bowels not clearing, liver congestion, and even kidney issues. So detoxifying the body can be an important part of arthritis issues. I will go into some of these situations deeper in the following blogs this month. I will discuss the functions of what is causing pain and swelling and how to support the body.

So based on what you have been diagnosed with or other indicators from organ function you may have. How you would nutritionally support arthritis would be different. You can, and I would highly recommend you do, nutritionally support the body for what you have happening even if on medication. If you are unsure where things may be stemming from a Zyto scan can help show other interacting organs, or you can do a symptom survey. I can help you look at what direction to nourish. We will be going into more specifics for the rest of this month.
