Just Breathe!

Breathing is a simple thing we do daily without even thinking about it. We often pay no attention and when we are nervous we find ourselves holding our breath. Most people struggle with things like running due to not being able to breathe properly. It comes down to being able to control you're breathing. Breathing properly can do so many things for us. When we breathe fast it helps us to get up and run away from things it gets us up and moving, when we breathe slowly we are calming the body.

Breathing impacts us so much that it controls our autonomic nervous system. Breathing through our nose can help us filter the oxygen coming into our lungs. It can even heat up the air as it enters our body. Breathing can stimulate hormone production and it can lower blood pressure.

We feel so powerless over our bodies, yet we have so much control of how the body functions we just don't understand it. We tend to overcomplicate wellness and that it is just too hard to achieve. I am here to show you it can be easy, you just have to do it.

Many successful people use the power of breath to help them with health and happiness. Tony Robbins, a motivational speaker who focuses on your state and priming your body and is a business guru he does breathing techniques every morning as a tool to prime his body. Tony does seminars that can go 12 hours a day while the entire time is motivating people and on top of his game. Wim Hof has used them to conquer his own battles after his wife passed. He has gone on to teach many how to hack their nervous system with the cold showers/bathing and breathing. He was even able to overcome being injected with Ecoli and it not harming him in any way. Many use his techniques to fight sickness, headaches, and depression.

Here are some samples of breathing techniques. I have attached a link to James Nestor's site where he shows others demonstrating different types of breathing techniques.

Parasympathetic breathing (which is one I recommend most to patients).

6-5.5 seconds deep breath in

6-5.5 seconds releasing out

Repeat for 2-5 mins

*calming the body, supporting digestion.

Tony Robbins does quick breathing, to make sure you have full oxygenated cells.

Taking 10 power breaths do this 3 times.

Inhale 5 seconds, hold 20 seconds, exhale 10 seconds

*increasing oxygen, energy, boosting mood

Wim Hof Fast Breathing

30-40 quick breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth

Fill the lungs and hold your breath as long as you can then breathe out

Breath in and hold 10-15 seconds hold

You can repeat up to 4 more times

*Supporting energy, immune system, Mood boosting
